Why we picked this

An outdoor science talk at a field laboratory, preceded by a guided nature tour. The format is as good as the content.

Matthew Ming is a PhD candidate in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior at UT Austin, researching how natural selection differs between males and females. His Science Under the Stars lecture traces how our understanding of evolution has itself evolved — from Darwin and Mendel’s foundational work to modern population genetics.

The evening starts at 7:15 PM with a guided tour of Brackenridge Field Laboratory, followed by the talk at 8:00 PM and Q&A. No RSVP needed — just show up. Bring sturdy shoes and water for the tour. Free.
