Why we picked this

Four New Yorker cartoonists on the same stage, talking about what it means to be funny and female in the most iconic magazine in American letters.

This Women’s History Month event pairs a documentary screening with a live conversation among four of The New Yorker’s women cartoonists. The film, directed by cartoonist Liza Donnelly and filmmaker Kathleen Hughes, explores the sometimes quirky, occasionally angry, often poignant perspectives that these artists bring to the page.

Following the screening, Donnelly is joined by Emily Flake, Liana Finck, and Bishakh Som for a discussion moderated by comedian and podcast host Ophira Eisenberg. The conversation covers creative practices, female wit, and the particular challenges of making observations through single-panel drawings.

Free admission with registration.
